COOPER IS ASLEEP.................

This morning went well and Cooper is now in surgery. We told him goodbye at 8:05 and it was harder than you can ever imagine. We met with the doctors and nurses this morning and reviewed again what was being done. To recap, they are placing a stint in the left pulmonary artery and balloon angioplasy on the right pulmonary artery. Then they are closing a VSD (hole) in the lower chambers of the heart and placing a conduit system in the ventricles. The doctors are very confident but because this is a re-entry his risk of heart attack or stroke are increased 5 to 8%. I had almost forgotten how great Coop's surgeon is. He came in and reviewed everything and makes you feel so good about what is going on. He and Coop's cardiologist are wonderful doctors. Stacey is the nurse who will be updating us every hour. They said the surgery will take most of the day so Stacey will be extremely important to us and she is simply wonderful. She cries right along with us! She was in about 8:15 and said Coop went to sleep very peacefully talking about his horse. WE LOVE YOU COOPER!
